What does your job entail?
Creating opportunities to allow people to provide for their families and improve quality of life along with growing and improving the business.
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
I love it
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I help plan HebCelt and I also like to ignore my PT’s advice and eat nice food.
Kyle Smith
What does your job entail?
I oversee the daily operations of the business, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time. With us covering such a large geographical area this can be challenging and forward planning is key to making sure everything runs smoothly.
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
Working at IDM is challenging, interesting, and rewarding. Every day is different with new jobs and people.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love eating out and exploring new foods. I am also involved with the Hebridean Celtic Music Festival on the Isle of Lewis and spend time out with work helping organise the event throughout the year.
Bruce MacDonald
What does your job entail?
Managing the daily running of the business ensuring the company values and high level of service we offer are continually maintained and upheld
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
Great atmosphere, hard working team with customers at the heart of what we strive for. Excellent customer service.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Family life is important so having 4 children keeps me very active along with the family dog. I am a bit of an armchair sportsman with football being a minor passion and also a great topic for many conversations. I own a mountain bike and a road bike that are currently gathering dust. I make a mean pot of ham and lentil soup and enjoy eating a variety of foods .
Stewart Sutherland
What does your job entail?
Installing, repairing, modifying, inspecting and testing electrical systems to a high standard within domestic, industrial and commercial settings.
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
I really enjoy the variety of work – during my short time at IDM no two days have been the same. Working at a company that values its staff and clients is also very important to me.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Spending time with my family & friends; my partner and I have a 4 year old boy that keeps us on our toes. I like music, TV series, films & football.
Calum Mackintosh
What does your job entail?
Domestic, commercial, renewable and heating works.
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
The challenge against new and upcoming projects. Working alongside an efficient and competent team. Learning new aspects of my trade.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Play guitar. Go on adventures. Take my campervan away on trips.

Kian Anderson
What does your job entail?
Through the guidance of my journeymen i complete many different jobs on a daily basis. Some jobs can range from wiring in circuits in a property to installing electrical accessories such as sockets and light fittings. A new type of job that we have been completing is electrical Installation condition reports. When doing these reports my job is to test circuits from numerous Distribution Boards.
What do you enjoy about working at IDM?
I most enjoy the atmosphere that surrounds the team. The constant positivity and reassurance that comes from working for IDM has allowed me to grow my skills as an electrician and a team player.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I’ve recently started learning how to drive which consumes most of my time out of work. On occasion I also enjoy going to local festivals and gigs throughout the Inverness area.
